Cover Letter
Dear Professor,
ENGLCOM has been one of the subjects where I have learned a lot since the first day. It had taught me reading and writing skills that I never knew and even my creativity improved as we go on. Also, thanks you for being such a patient and understanding teacher to us, I appreciate all the effort and the learning that I have acquired.
As I go along with te subject, there a couple of things that I have achieved. First and for most, I have learned how to be more aware of my grammar and be able to edit my friends' work gramatically. Another is I have learned how utilize my skills in reading and writing in my essays. I have learned to improve my skills by being more creative and using advanced words in my papers. Lastly, I believe that my Lasallian values have grew. I developed honesty by learning to do things by myself and in my own idea. In terms of perseverance, I also believe that my responsibility toward my homework grew and have the initiative to do them. I also learned to respect my teacher and also my friends' work and just try to give advices if neccessary. In addition, I am most proud of my Lasallian values. It does not only teach me things to apply inside the campus but also outside. These values can be brought until I grow up and use them towards others.
On the other hand, I ha difficulty in achieving to do action plans towards errors in signages and campus publications. Even though I know that errors occur everywhere, I tend to just stay silent about it. I think that this is because my confidence in confronting people with their errors is low. I can't tell them what's right even though I know the right thing. I believe that it is right to tell them because it does not only help people improve their grammar but also
help the community to know what's right.
As a writer, I have learned that I can be creative in writing essays. I express my ideas and stance in certain topics that can be interesting. I also learned the flaws of my grammar and that I should read more to improve my usage of words and also to learn new things and be inspired to write more. I learned how to cite sources that will be very useful to avoid plagiarism.
In conclusion, the essays that I've done are far from essays written by professional writers. In my argumentative essay, I had edited it carefully because it was a big part of my overall grade in ENGLCOM. So the revisions I made were in grammar. I applied the things that I have learned in class to revise my sentences. I also made revisions in the organization of the paragraphs and also its transition to make it better for readers to read.

Does Gender Really Matter?
Parents nowadays are placed in a spot wherein they have to decide to what kind of school they should let their children study in. It is very important to choose from single gender schools or co-ed schools because their respective environments could determine the lifestyle of the students. Although single gender schools may be better for students for it will let them concentrate better on their studies, they may also have negative effects such as les exposure of children to the “real” world which may result in their inability to express their feelings freely.
Single sex schools are most often compared to co-ed schools which of course both have their own benefits. According to Kate Ninnes (2007), the theory about girls maturing faster than boys takes place. Teaching in co-ed schools can be more difficult since the state of the maturity of both genders is different. As a result, students in single gender schools are easier to be taught and thus they could concentrate better on their studies. Less distractions are present in single gender schools since there is no competition on students gossiping on “who is more popular than whom”, and “who is going out with whom.” Based on an article by Julia Henry (2001), research says that single gender schooled students performed almost twice as better than students in co-ed schools. Although we cannot conclude than single gender schools are better than co-ed schools, this may be the basis of deciding which choice is better. Another advantage of single gender schools may be that they break down gender stereotypes. Students have more freedom in making educational choices, pursuing in taking the subjects of their own interest such as art, music and theatre. They seem to be not worrying of the threat of judgement which may sometimes be present in co-ed schools.
Of course, as the saying goes, “you cannot have your cake and eat it, too.” Sometimes single gender schools can lead to children being hesitant in expressing their views in front of the opposite sex as stated by Kate Ninnes (2007). Also, there would be a possibility of the students having a hard time forming friendships as well. According to strictmachiine (2007), children should be around other gender because it is natural in life; they have to be exposed to the real world and grow up with a strong mid set. By having this kind of lifestyle, children will grow to be more open-minded to the real world and be able to understand thing the way they are. The way of life can be harder than what one studies in the book. Having to be street smart is very important because how one manages things can affect his/her whole life.
In conclusion, single gender schools can be very positive towards education while co-ed schools lean towards the life outside school and how one should handle things related socially. In my opinion, I believe that having to study in co-ed schools is better because life outside school is harder and I think that when one studies in single gender schools, one is more timid and afraid to express his/her own feelings. It is important that the child grows up having the idea of how the world really goes and to slowly learn how to cope and live with it.

Our technology.
Advance technology is a branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means in relation with life and the things surrounding it. It is the usage and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems or methods of an organization in order to solve problems or perform specific functions.
Technology nowadays is very essential in people’s lives. Some examples include cars, computers, cell phones and televisions. These things may sound fancy but technology can develop further with time. Why? It is just a matter of time that people will think of something innovative and create a new product or invention! According to Jin Sun Kim (2008), as technology develops, there are not only advantages but also disadvantages. With technology being programmed to be productive, it helps people by giving them time to relax because the machines will do the work for them. Also, one important thing is that they are programmed correctly, they are very accurate with their work; they often do no not make mistakes so one must not worry. On the other hand, technology has its disadvantages, the development of technologies will let the machines take over the jobs of people and eventually people will lose their job and will have a hard time to earn money. Thus, they will not be able to continue to meet the basic needs. In addition to this, machines are complex, people must know how to multitask. Also, if these machines get broken, people who don’t know how to fix them will get frustrated and have to spend large amount of money to get them fixed.
In the end, technology will still be a question of whether it gives more advantage than disadvantage to the society or vice versa. All we know is that technology constantly develops over time. People will continue to think of new things that can even blow are minds off but in spite of these advances, it is our duty to manage these and decide what’s good for everyone.

The King versus the Black Mamba
The National Basketball Association fans have been debating on proving who is the better player in the league. Well, actually two player, Lebron James and Kobe Bryant, have been the main focus in the debate. Both of them have been dominating the NBA since they arrive. They have been the main attraction and the stars of the organization.
Comparing them in terms of their physique, Lebron has a heavier built weighing around 260 pounds while Kobe weighs around 180 pounds. Also, Lebron is taller than Kobe by two inches having the height of 6 feet 8 inches. You might be surprised but even if Lebron is heavier and taller than Kobe, he has still proven to be faster, quicker and jumps higher. People even say he is like a video game player. Well in terms of statistics, Lebron averages 21 points per game which is lower than Kobe's 24 points per game. Insights maybe that Lebron is a better passer. Well in defense, Lebron wins, he blocks and steals the ball more from his opponents. He works hard to get these things done. Regarding their records and awards, Kobe won several like an MVP award, four Finals MVP award, 5 championship titles and a phenomenal 81 point game. Similarly, Lebron had his awards too, such as back to back MVP awards and recorded an average of almost triple double per game but still yet to have a championship title.
Kobe, I can say is a veteran and championship material player while Lebron is a fast paced player that wants thing to be done instantly. In conclusion, both players have different styles and roles. We cannot say now who the better player is, but all we can do is just wait and see when the time comes when they will face off in a championship game.

Special Effects
Why do people watch movies? Do you have an idea what are the effects of watching too much movies? Well, I guess we all have our own opinion. Movies are very informative and entertaining to most of us. This may be the most common reason why we watch movies.
Movies so far have been a big part of people's lives but of course too much movies may have an effect on them. There are many reasons why people watch movies. It may be because families want to spend times together and see it as a bonding time. Some people may have spare time or long breaks that they have nothing to do so instead they watch movies. Well, I believe that people watch movies because mostly they want to be entertained and for some, they are a big fan of certain movies like Harry Potter, Twilight and others. On the other hand, watching too much movies may lead to certain effects either bad or good. It may lead to eye problems because of the eyes' inability to rest. Also, some people even get confused from fantasy to reality. On the other hand, there are positive effects. It can boost one's skill in being creative because of the ideas that people acquire in it. Lastly, it can also improve a person's social skills that they can use to talk about more things.
In conclusion, movies can be enjoyable to us but I guess "too much of anything is not good" is true. Everything has its limit that's why it is up to us to control what we do even if it is as simple as watching movies.

A Comedy Movie a Day, Keeps the Doctor Away
They say that laughter is the best medicine. Well, I personally believe that this is true. Movies have a lot of genres and one of them is comedy. Comedy movies have been a big part of the movie industry that are produced today. I will personally say that past comedy movies were funnier compared to the present films of the same genre. Past comedy films were wittier because they were more focused on the communication aspect which I believe nowadays have been decreasing. On the other hand, today's comedy films have been more visual in terms of making it funny. Still, comedy is still comedy, and their main purpose is to make us laugh!
Hence, comedy movies over time have covered wide ranges and sometimes merge with other genres of movies. Films like 500 Days of Summer and Everybody's Fine are some that consists of two different genres. There are also parody kinds of comedy movies wherein certain scenes from famous events of movies are being imitated and reinacted with humor. Some examples are Not Another Teen Movie and the Scary Movie series but I believe that they are the corny ones. Last is the pure comedy. Films like Hot Chick, White Chicks and The Hangover are a few and for me, Hangover is my personal favorite. The movie is so hilarious that it literally made me cry and the plot was also relevant to real life happenings.
Comedy movies are produced because its purpose is mainly to make us laugh our hearts out. Some call it a medicine as they use it to lessen their stress and some just laugh through their problems. I believe that comedy movies are made for leisure and entertainment and simply just make us laugh and have a wonderful time with our family and friends.
